Comptia A+: An IT industry exam covering how to support IT users with hardware and software problems, in depth knowledge of PC hardware and software, a small amount of Networking. In essence an IT Technician qualification for first line support. MCDST, Microsoft qualified desktop support technician: support IT users with Microsoft XP and office applications (word , excel etc). In essence an IT technician qualification for first line support for Microsoft users. Network + (optional): one week’s worth of tuition on Networking, exam optional but exam voucher is paid for by the learner (£42). Covers all aspects of Networking. NVQ Level 3: Carried out at a work place environment (the academy) to cover all aspects of IT and working in an IT office environment. Including Health and Safety, Equal opps, report writing, customer service, self improvement, presentation skills, Seeking and using feedback. An NVQ is an evidence based qualification using real industry scenario’s. Advanced Diploma for IT professionals: Carried out at a work place environment (the academy) the Diploma is a series of evidence based assignments enabling learners to prove they have the knowledge to apply what is covered in the NVQ and Vendor exams (Comptia and MCDST). The course covers network implementation, business needs assessment, customer service and call logging, recommendations for improvements to ICT departments current equipment and Installation of operating systems and applications including an advanced Word module.
