About us

Hackney Community College offers a good range of full and part-time courses for school leavers and adults - and flexible opportunities for employers to train their staff.

Our spacious Shoreditch Campus is based right in the heart of Hoxton - on the edge of the City.  Our strong links with businesses and universities will give you a real head start once you've completed your course.

Facilities available

We're proud of our excellent facilities.  Our construction students learn in purpose-built workshops, which prepare them for the world of work.  Our Hospitality and Catering students prepare and serve meals at Open Kitchen, our onsite training bar and restaurant that's open to the public.

All our students benefit from excellent IT facilities and we have modern, up-to-date media facilities.

Our Learning Resources Centre is fully equipped with on and offline resources, that are carefully selected to meet your coursework needs.  There's plenty of space for individual, paired or group work.  We also have internet stations based around campus.

Our Nursery is staffed by qualified childcare staff, so we can look after your child while you study (subject to availability and funding).

Additional support

We offer all our students individual support, based on their needs.  At the start of term, there's a comprehensive induction, where you'll be shown how to access all the support that's available.  This includes our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), where you can access your coursework, Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and a whole host of information.

Approximately 12% of our students have disclosed a disability or additional learning support requirements; and we provide tailored support to each of them.  We offer one-to-one, small group or in-class support to help with your studies; just ask us for more information when you enrol.

Our Student Advisers are trained counsellors who will help you with any problem or difficulty you have.  All students can receive free, confidential and impartial advice.

Careers and employment advisers give advice and support on education, training and employment opportunities.

We also have a team who will help you with your progression onto university.  They can help you with your UCAS applications and other HE admissions processes, including if you need to go through clearing.
