Why Choose Further Mathematics? Firstly, you have to enjoy doing Mathematics, as taking two full AS courses in Mathematics means that you will spend about half of all lesson and homework time doing Mathematics!
If you enjoy Mathematics, you will find that studying the two AS levels together helps to improve your skills and develop your interest across the whole subject.
Anybody considering studying Mathematics or other Mathematics related courses, Physics or certain engineering courses will find that some universities ask for this qualification.
AS Level: Further Pure 1 (FP1), Decision 1 (D1) and 1 additional applied module: Statistics 1 or Mechanics 1. This means that students have an increased breadth of experience of Applied Maths compared to those students taking just Maths at AS.
A2 Level: Students will then study 3 more units towards an A level in Further Mathematics at least one of which will be a Further Pure Module. There is no doubt that A2 Further Maths is more challenging than A2 Maths.
A or above in GCSE Mathematics. This subject may only be taken along with AS Mathematics.

Further Mathematics A level is a prestigious qualification and is very valuable for students considering a mathematics or related degree, such as engineering or architecture. Career prospects in science and engineering would be greatly enhanced by a qualification in Further Mathematics
The results for AS and A2 Further Maths have always been strong, with the majority of students meeting or exceeding their target grades.
