Health and Social Care BTEC Level 3 Certificate and Subsidiary Diploma at Wadham School

Course description

Health and Social Care looks at both the roles of service providers and the needs of service users. It answers such questions as what does it mean to have a disability and which services provide help for such a person? It looks at service provision nationally and locally.

Entry requirements

5 A*-C passes at GCSE, including English.

No prior study of Health and Social Care is required to study this course. Applicants should be caring and sensitive to the needs of others and be determined to succeed.

Assessment

Exam Board – Edexcel

There are no exams, instead a portfolio of evidence is gathered to demonstrate knowledge and progression. Modules are undertaken on different subjects and these can be signed off when complete. Whilst gaining a marketable qualification learners will develop their communication and teamwork skills.

Future opportunities

This is a vocational qualification offering a practical and relevant start to anyone interested in a career in the caring professions – nursing, midwifery, occupational therapy, social work etc.
