  • EMPLOYMENT - the specification aims to maintain and support the recognised standards demanded for science education and training in order to meet the requirements of various industries, medical and laboratory based science, food and catering industries;
  • RELATED QUALIFICATIONS IN THE NATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FRAMEWORK - the awards enable students to progress to other science related qualifications such as GCE and VRQ.

Further information

To succeed on this course students must be self motivated and conduct a large amount of independent study outside lesson time, e.g, a grade A student (grade A is needed for most medical school) would spend a half hour every evening and 4 hours at the weekend, throughout AS/A2 academic term.  Successful students must achieve a good balance of organisation, discipline, prioritisation, addressing weaknesses, reinforcing work studied, preparation for next lessons, good attendance at classes and most of all effort (hours) in class and at home.  For further information, please contact Mrs Gogliormella, Head of Science at Aire Valley School.
