History at The Cherwell School

Course description

During the AS/A2 Course you will be able to study a range of significant events, individuals and issues. At AS you will focus on the 16th century with units covering the German Reformation 1517-1555 and England under Elizabeth I 1558-1603.

The A2 course will allow you to develop your work from AS through further 16th century content – The Catholic Reformation 1492-1610 and Philip II of Spain 1556-1598. You will also be able in year 13 to work on a piece of historical research of your own choice from OCR’s list of suggested topics.

Entry requirements

Students taking four AS subjects require 344 GCSE points in their highest 8 GCSEs (this equates toan average of 4Bs and 4Cs or an average of 43 points). Students must have C grades or above inboth GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics.
