Art and Design BTEC Level 2 Diploma at South Downs College

Course description

If you are interested in Art & Design as a career opportunity then this may be an ideal course for you.

This one year course will provide you with the opportunities to develop new and existing skills in all areas of art and design and produce a creative portfolio.

Course content

This course provides an exciting introduction to many aspects of art and design and it is delivered through a series of workshops and project work.

You will work in well-equipped studios and be provided with a broad range of media and materials to work with such as glass, clay, paint, graphics, textiles and photography.

A greater insight into art and design practices will be gained through visits to galleries and exhibitions.

The course also helps improve day-to-day skills and helps you prepare for work and progression to a higher level course.

Entry requirements

A minimum of five GCSEs at grades A*-C, including English Language and usually Mathematics.

Assessment

All units are assessed and graded following set deadlines and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.

Financial information

You will be encouraged to participate in a variety of educational study visits which will incur an additional cost determined by the nature of the visit.

Future opportunities

If a Merit grade is achieved, upon completion of the course you could progress to a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art & Design or another appropriate Level 3 qualification.

Further information

Assignments and tests for Functional Skills will be part of the programme of learning.

You will have access to computers, either PC or Apple Macintosh.

You should allow between 10 – 15 hours per week for home/independent study.
