BTEC Level 2 First Diploma in Health and Social Care at Stratford-upon-Avon College

Course description

If you are looking to start a career in the Health or Social Care sectors, then this course is ideal for you. It will provide you with the opportunity to develop a range of skills, techniques and personal attributes essential for progression into study at a higher level or the workplace. This will be achieved by gaining knowledge and experience of working, in a wide range of settings, and will give you an insight into the Health and Social Care sector.
Study will combine theoretical subjects with work experience, allowing you to put into practice what you have learned, while working within a range of different Health or Social Care settings. The course comprises classroom activity, lectures, group work, workshops, individual study and work experience.

Entry requirements

You will need at least one of the following:

  • 2 GCSEs at grade D or above, preferably including English or Mathematics
  • Level 1 course in relevant vocational area – Merit grade or above

Mature students without formal qualifications who show commitment to the subject area may join the course following a successful interview.

Assessment

This will be a mixture of assignments, multiple choice question papers and portfolios.
