Fashion Retail Level 2 Diploma at Bridgwater College

Course description

The course is for those who have an interest in how the fashion industry works.  You may have already worked in the fashion retail business either full-time or part-time or might want to one day. The aim of the course is to build your communication skills and develop them within a fashion retail context and prepare you for your first steps into the industry.

Course content

You will learn all about how the industry works from buying, setting trends to the marketing a promotion of garments and designs. Topics include; the evolution of the fashion retail marketplace, how the manage the store and store environment, promotion, personal shopping, styling, trends and cultures, graphics design and visual merchandising. There will be a mixture of practical, academic and work experience sessions on the course

Entry requirements

  • Aptitude and enthusiasm for Fashion Retail
  • 4 GCSEs (3 at grades A* – D and 1 at A* – E), including English and Maths
  • Level 1 qualification at merit, plus GCSE English and Maths (1 at grade A* – D and 1 at grade A* – E).

Students will also be required to find and carry out a work placement as part of the course. Students will receive support with their CV, covering letters and interview techniques to enhance your employability skills.


Assessment is continuous and will consist of a portfolio of reports, presentations and creative projects plus a final major project at the end of the year.

Future opportunities

This qualification provides a unique opportunity to progress within the sector and provides an excellent opportunity for further progression into higher study (Level 3 Diploma in Fashion Retail) and a fulfilling career within fashion retail.
