Course description

C & G Functional Skills Level 1 or Level 2 – 1 ½ hour short answer assessment using problem solving approach.  Calculators allowed.

Course content

Will include:

  • calculating using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
  • percentages
  • shape
  • graphs
  • ratio
  • problem solving

Entry requirements

The course is for learners who:

  • Have been assessed at level 1 or 2


  • Have a level 1 qualification


Score 70% at diagnostic assessment for the relevant level


You will undertake an assessment and interview prior to the course to find you the right class. It is essential that you come to class every week. You will work towards a national qualification in numeracy. You may be able to get additional support in class if required.  

Financial information

Classes are free.

Pen, paper, ruler, folder and calculator. If on a low income, you may be eligible to apply for help to cover the cost of equipment..

16-18s can apply for a bursary at enrolment(if eligible).
