Mathematical Studies at The Sixth Form College Colchester
This course caters for students with varied backgrounds and abilities. More specifically it is designed to build confidence and encourage an appreciation of mathematics in students who do not anticipate a need for complex mathematics in their furutre studies. It reinforces the work covered at GCSE and extends it into fresh areas including logic, finance and some calculus. Thuis is the most appropriate option for the majority of students on the IB diploma course. Those with particular skills and interest in Mathematics will also be offered the chance to sit A-Level Mathematics alongside their IB course.
The entry requirements for the IB Diploma are broadly the same as for a 4AS programme. However, students will normally need to have C or above passes in English or English Language, Maths, Science and in a modern foreign language (where taken).
