Land Based Studies Equine Studies Foundation at Eccles Sixth Form College

Course description

This couse is an excellent foundation for a career in the equine industry.  Students need to have a genuine interest in horses, with some practical knowledge of horse care preferable. Learning takes place at college and the equestrian unit at Ryders Farm in Kearsley

Course content

You will cover a variety of topics such as:  Riding and Equestrian: Horse behaviour and welfare: The equine industry: Equine nutrition: Stale yard management: Equine anatomy and physiology: Animal biology

Work experience is an essential element of the course and all students will complete work experience as part of their course. Students have previously completed their placements at prestigious yards and in Terrou, France

Entry requirements

E/Fs or 1/2s at GCSE

Assessment

The course is assessed by written assignments and practical assessments.

Financial information

Full time courses are free to 16-18 year olds who are EU citizens
