Forensic Science Diploma at Carlton le Willows Academy

Course description

Forensic Science is the study of crime scenes, the people that commit crimes and their motives. It is the science if detection. In order to be a good Forensic Scientist students are required to be good scientists. Students are trained to work effectively, precisely and with care in different laboratory settings before moving onto look at criminal behaviour, psychology and the art of gathering evidence meticulously to help police in the solving of crimes. The Forensic Science Diploma is an expanded two-year course with 13 practical and research based units with equivalence to two A2 courses. A Pass grade (P) is equivalent to two E’s at A level and carries the same UCAS value. Tiered Higher grades are available at Merit (M) or Distinction (D) and these are weighted at C and A grade at A level, respectively. Students must pass all of the assignments within each unit in order to gain a Pass grade or better.

Entry requirements

5 C grades (maximum 1 BTEC equivalents). Must include C grade in English Language and Mathematics GCSE.
