This course covers engineering operations including machining (turning, milling, fitting). Stoke on Trent College has a variety of simulated working environments and the Learning Resource Centres are designed to help students by offering information technology facilities, workshops and libraries.

Entry requirements

Candidates must be 16 years of age or over on entry. No formal entry requirements, but you will have a pre-induction interview / assessment to make sure this is the right level for you. To enter this programme you will need to show enthusiasm, commitment and interest in the subject area. You will need to be employed in the industry.

Assessment

NVQ Candidates collect evidence from the workplace to build a portfolio, and assessment includes workplace observations with practical skills measured against recognised industry standards. Assessment of the underpinning knowledge is by written assignments, oral questioning and external examination.

Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship and improved employment opportunities.

An Apprenticeship is a high quality, challenging training and development programme to help employees become as effective as possible in their early careers. It includes: employed status and wages, an individual learning plan, life skills, functional skills and a nationally recognised certificate. Relating directly to their work on completion of the NVQ.
