A Level Business Studies will inspire, motivate and challenge to develop your understanding and knowledge of the business environment. It is relevant to the fast-changing world of business today.
You will develop the ability to generate enterprising and creative approaches to business opportunities, problems and issues. You will acquire a range of relevant business skills including decision making and problem solving skills, as well as applying numerical skills in a range of business contexts.
As an A level Business Studies student you will examine concepts, theories and models and how they shape businesses, across a range of contexts. You will learn how to analyse and respond to business issues using facts and data to make informed judgements and propose solutions.
The course consists of three units. These units will examine the following business themes;
· Business objectives and strategic decisions
· External influences facing businesses
· Marketing and marketing strategies
· Operational strategy
· Human resources
· Accounting and financial considerations
· The global environment of business
These are applied in the local business environment, more widely and globally via three units. These units are assessed by an external examination.
Average points score of 42+ and at least grade C in GCSE English and maths. GCSE Business Studies is not a requirement for the course.
An understanding of how businesses works is helpful in almost any career. The knowledge and skills developed are useful in every workplace, or to inspire you to set up your own business. Many of our students continue to study Business at University or a linked subject such as Marketing, Accounting and Finance, Human Resources or Operations. Apprenticeships are another alternative, with a number of our students successfully gaining places with large accountancy firms amongst other areas.
