The Holts Academy award in Employability and Personal Development helps you to develop vital personal skills and the qualities required by employers in the workplace.

The award is specifically geared towards improving your employment prospects, helping you towards your goals and it will also help you to progress in any further studies you may wish to undertake.

Course content

Investigating a vocational area

This unit is about selecting and researching a vocational area with regard to skills, knowledge and personal qualities. You will be able to: 
1. Know how to research a vocational area 
2. Know how to develop the skills and knowledge for a chosen job role.
Preparing for an interview
In this unit, you will develop the skills of planning appropriate interview questions and responses ahead of an interview. You will also look at how to make effective plans for an interview. By the end of the unit you will: 
1. Know how to respond to questions you might be asked at the interview 
2. Be able to prepare appropriate questions to ask the interviewer 
3. Plan to arrive at the interview on time.
Recognising employment opportunities
This unit will enable you to understand different types of work, labour markets and employment opportunities which exist locally and in the wider world. You will be able to: 
1. Appreciate different types of work 
2. Appreciate the concept of the labour market 
3. Search out and recognise relevant employment opportunities.

No Formal Entry Requirements

Financial information

This course is free for learners aged 16 – 18 years old and 19+ years old on benefits.

£114 for learners aged 19+ years old and not receiving benefits and/or have higher than a Level 1 qualification in previous subjects
