English Language GCSE at The Sixth Form College Colchester

Course description

Any student who joins the College without a grade C or higher in English or English Language will normally be expected to take this course. Students brush up on their basic communication skills and work to improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students write letters, articles, reports, stories and essays, as well as studying spoken language and one book.

Entry requirements

These are one-year courses open to AS and AFP students and are normally 5 lessons a week. Most of these GCSEs are studied with the objective of entering students for the Foundation or Intermediate tier of the GCSE. Some subjects willenter students at Higher Level and this will be important if you are thinking of taking the subject to AS Level in your second year in College.
