Plumbing Diploma Level 3 at Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMET)

Course description

You will study topics like health and safety, environmental technology systems, plumbing system installation planning, complex cold water systems, domestic hot water, sanitation and drainage systems, central heating systems and domestic gas principles. You will also be encouraged to find a work experience placement whilst on this programme; the college has a Job shop facility that can offer support, such as CV writing and interview techniques.

Course content

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade A*- C to include Mathematics Higher Tier, English and Science, and a Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing. You will also need at least 65% in BPEC Test – this will be taken at interview.

Assessment

The course consists of 50% theory which will be delivered and supported by our interactive learning package (Moodle) with course notes and handouts. The other 50% of the course involves a series of ‘hands-on’ practical tasks with practical assessments to produce course work evidence. You will be assessed by practical assessment throughout the course and GOLA (on-line) multiple choice examinations.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of all the City & Guilds modules, together with the associated functional skills element, could progress to an apprenticeship or employment.
