Information and Communication Technology at Newmarket Academy
ICT skills are becoming ever more crucial to a large number of occupations and organisations. The Cambridge TEC is a new course that replaces the OCR Nationals and is designed to offer a number of 'pathways' which should suit multiple purposes. It is a course suitable for students wanting a thorough grounding in the use of ICT, through to those wishing to enter into the ICT profession and to those intending to study ICT at a higher level.
We have designed the course to enable a student to choose to take just the AS level equivalent qualification for one year or to carry on and acheive the full qualification and A2 equivalent over the two years.
There are only two compulsory units:
- Communication and employability skills
- Information systems
Other units include:
- Computer systems
- Managing networks
- Organisational systems security
- Computer networks
- IT technical support
- Project planning with IT
- Developing computer games
- Maintaining computer systems
- Website production
- Installing and upgrading software
- Computer animation
- Computer game platforms and technologies
- 2D animation production
- Web animation for interactive media
- Spreadsheet modelling
Of these 4 will need to be completed for the full qualification.
