A Level: Business at JC6: Hinckley Academy and John Cleveland Sixth Form Centre
Business A level suits students who have an interest in the exciting, competitive world of business. If you enjoy reading about business success and failure, or simply enjoy watching 'The Apprentice' and 'Dragons' Den' then this subject could be for you. You need to want to know more about why people set up in business, what makes them successful and how they can do things even better. Business helps you to understand the world in which we live, as well as gaining a unique insight into how the world of business works.
You will look at a number of different organisations facing different problems. You'll learn how to analyse the key factors involved and recommend the best course of action for a business given its existing position. Essentially the course is about decision making in a business context and as such it develops invaluable skills, whatever you want to do next.
Consider Business if:
- You are interested in understanding more about the world of business and enterprise.
- You enjoy discussion and debates, analysing issues and formulating recommendations.
- You want to develop your analytical and evaluative skills.
JC6 general entry requirements, including:
- Minimum of C grade at GCSE Business IF you studied it at GCSE.
By end of year examinations based on multiple choice answers and data response questions, including detailed essay-style responses.
Business A level works well with other humanities and social science subjects, developing similar analytical and discursive skills.
Business is a flexible qualification which opens up a wide range of career options, from business analyst or accountant through to advertising executive. It also provides students with a breadth of knowledge which prepares them to go on to a range of degree courses including Marketing, Economics, Accountancy, Sociology and Law.
