Year 12 Content The three Year 12 units aim to provide an extended foundation in the study of Chemistry. The first unit, Atoms, Bonds and Groups introduces the further study of inorganic Chemistry, metals, non-metals and the bonding and structure of substances. The second unit deals with the Chemistry of carbon compounds and energy changes associated with their use as a fuel; the effect of their use in this way on the environment is also studied. The third unit is a practical assessment derived from a variety of experimental tasks.Year 13 ContentThe first unit studied in Year 13 extends the studies of carbon compounds and includes industrial analytical techniques. Polymers and their synthesis are included here. The second unit considers reactions and the energy changes associated with them. The third unit is a series of practical assessments derived from a variety of experimental tasks.
Subject specific entry requirements may apply but as a minimum you should provide 7 GCSEs grades A* - C. Please see our website for full admissions criteria. Students are required to obtain a grade B or above in Chemistry GCSE or, if taking Double Science GCSE, then a BB is required with a minimum of a grade B in the Chemistry modules. Additionally, a grade B in Maths and a C in English GCSE are needed
