Foundation Level 2 at The Rodillian Academy

Course description

Year 12:

The level 2 foundation course is suitable for those students who have achieved grades D/E/F at GCSE. This is a 12 month course which aims to boost examination performance incore subject areas and aims to prepare students for employment or further training. It is anticipated that this course will centre on GCSE Maths and English. All students would also study level 2 BTEC Workskills as part of their foundation provision. All students would be welcome to progress onto Level 3 BTEC National programmes of study, or Advanced Subsidiary/A2 courses following the successful completion of their chosen Level 2 vocational programme of study, provided they fulfil the academic entry criteria specified. It is possible to continue to study workskills in Year 13 to acquire a further qualification in this field

Entry requirements

Year 12:
Students who have achieved of 4 GCSEs grade D-G are eligible to apply for this course.

Assessment

  • BTEC Workskills is internally assessed coursework completed in a number of units that are internally marked and assessed. There are no examinations for the current specification’
  • GCSE Maths is 100% examination
  • GCSE English Language consist of both coursework and examination elements

Future opportunities

All students would be welcome to progress onto Level 3 BTEC National programmes of study, or Advanced Subsidiary/A2 courses following the successful completion of their chosen Level 2 vocational programme of study, provided they fulfil the academic entry criteria specified.
