Software Tester Apprenticeship Level 2 at Escalla
Software testers are the right hand of every developer. As a software tester, you are given a product that is in an advanced development stage, and it’s your job to try and find any bugs or problems with it.
You will document the testing process and relay the information back to the developer, who then works to improve the product, based on your feedback. A typical testing cycle would include the following steps:
- Review of software requirements
- Preparation of test cases
- Execution of tests
- Reporting of issues
Good software testers have a natural curiosity, strong judgement and excellent communication skills. Sometimes, you might end up testing the same software over a long period of time, and at other times you will have to work towards a very tight deadline. Therefore, it is important to be patient and remain focused at all times. Depending on the nature of the project, you could also be working unusual hours, so discipline is key.
