Health Sciences BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Bath College

Course description

This course is most suitable for students wishing to undertake a degree in all branches of nursing, paramedic science, midwifery or for allied health professional roles such as radiology, physiotherapy and occupational therapy.

 

The course is equally relevant to learners of all age and is available at both the City Centre Campus and the Somer Valley Campus.

Course content

The course is comprised of academic units and professional practice placements in health and social care settings.

Units will include:

 

  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Biochemistry for Health
  • Physiology of Fluid Balance
  • Defence Against Disease
  • Science for Health
  • Human Inheritance

Entry requirements

Five full GCSE’s at grade C or above including English language, science and preferably maths; or a related level 2 qualification at merit.
Interview.

Assessment

There will be continuous assessment by coursework and assessment of competence in practice.

Future opportunities

Progress on to a degree programme such as nursing, midwifery as well as biology, human biology or other medical sciences.
Move on to a health and social care related career.
