Further Mathematics A Level at Lincoln Castle Academy

Course description

This ‘A’ Level course is unusual in that it is an extension of the usual ‘A’ Level Mathematics course and can only be studied by those already doing ‘A’ Level Mathematics. Further Mathematics provides more opportunity to see how Mathematics is applied and supports many other subjects with mathematical based content.

Many of the skills developed in ‘A’ Level Mathematics are extended and enriched in Further Mathematics. The application of Mathematics to real life situations is explored in much more depth. As with ‘A’ Level Mathematics, Further Mathematics supports many other subjects which involve a degree of Mathematics. Many of the topics are developed in more detail which greatly aid the understanding of other ‘A’ Level subjects.

Entry requirements

This course is only accessible to strong and committed candidates. You should have studied Higher Level GCSE Mathematics and achieved a grade ‘A’ or ‘A*’. You must also study ‘A’ Level Mathematics.

Future opportunities

The course is very valuable for students considering a Mathematics based degree. Good candidates for Science, Economics, Engineering or Computer Sciences would also find this course very beneficial.
