Engineering- Advanced Apprenticeship at Henley College Coventry

Course description

The Engineering Manufacture framework at level 3 is designed to provide you with the skills, knowledge and competence requirements to operate at craft or technician level as appropriate within your employment sector.

Training and assessment will take place at College during your first year (this may involve full time or part time college attendance) followed in the second subsequent year by college based day release. You will also undertake work based training, as appropriate, throughout the length of your apprenticeship programme.

As an apprentice you are required to achieve the following competence and knowledge based qualifications to ensure that you build a rounded set of skills.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE’s grade A to C to include Maths, English and Science
Completion of the PEO level 2 in Engineering, a BTEC level 2 Extended Certificate. Functional skills at level 1
Completion of the intermediate apprenticeship in Engineering manufacturing


Continuous competence assessment in the work place for the NVQ qualification. Assignment work graded at pass, merit, distinction for the technical certificate. Completion of the Employee rights and responsibilities work book. Completion of the Personal, learning and thinking skills booklet at level 2.

Future opportunities

The higher apprenticeship at level 4.
