Beauty Therapy Level 2 at Peterborough Regional College

Course description

If you would like a career in the beauty therapy industry, working in such areas as
facial treatments, manicures, pedicures and waxing, then this course is ideal for you. This course is also great if you enjoy working with people and have good communication skills.

Course content

• Make–up application
• Facial work/skincare
• Nail enhancements
• Lash and brow treatments
• Waxing
• Manicure and pedicure
• Health and safety
• Client care/communication
• Salon reception duties
• Promote products and services to clients in a salon
• Nail art
• Head massage

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade D or above. A Level 1 qualification preferably at Merit would be considered, along with a reference from work or school.


Practical assessments take place on fee paying clients in Revive salons where you will have the opportunity to use an extensive range products. Work experience will be included in the programme and you will also be required to compete in the college competition. You will be expected to demonstrate your competence in all units to the standards required in industry. Assessments methods:
• Practical assessment
• Completion of portfolio
• Observation

Financial information

You will need to purchase a beauty kit and uniform. Details of these will be given at interview.


Future opportunities

The course naturally qualifies for employment in the beauty therapy industries. Alternatively, you may choose to study for further qualifications in additional
therapy areas such as Beauty Therapy Level 3 or move on to a specialised holistic course or study on the media make–up artistry course.
