Certificate in Animal Management (Level 3) at Newton Rigg College

Course description

This course is ideal if you wish to further your education at Level 3 but rather than study full time would also like to spend time expanding your work place skills. Learners would need to secure a work placement whilst studying this course. Upon successful completion of this course students may go on to study further Level 3 Animal Management courses or learners may also choose to remain in employment.

Course content

Course Themes:

• Develop animal handling skills • Knowledge and understanding of feeding and diet • Maintenance and design of animal accommodation • Promotion of animal health • English and maths provision as appropriate • Work placement in a related area (paid or voluntary) in order to complete 300 hours of work experience during the year

Entry requirements

Usually at least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above to include any 2 from English, Maths and Science with at least a grade D in the remaining subject. Alternatively a suitable level 2 vocational qualification (Merit or above) with English and Maths at Level 2
