English Literature AS/A2 at Mangotsfield School

Course description

Students studying Literature will develop a detailed,
critical understanding of literary texts and articulate
creative, informed responses to them. Exploring
connections and comparisons between texts and
understanding the influence of the time in which texts
are written also play an important part in the course.
The course at AS consists of two units:
- Texts in Context: wider reading linked to the theme
of ‘The Struggle for Identity’ and one set text on the
same theme.
- Creative Study (coursework): A personal response to a
prose text and a piece of writing comparing two drama
texts.
