UAL Photography, Lens & Light-Based Image Diploma Level 3 at Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMET)

Course description

The course is for anyone with a passion for photography. You will be exposed to a range of photographic styles and approaches including studio photography, location and documentary photography and fashion photography. You will develop professional studio skills in the use of lighting and advanced camera techniques. Both digital image manipulation and dark room processes will be explored. The course will include numerous live projects collaborating with other students and external clients.

Course content

Entry requirements

A minimum of four GCSEs at grade C or above including English and maths or a Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design at Merit or above. A portfolio of art and or photography is essential

Assessment

Students are encouraged to develop creative ideas and applications and will produce a traditional portfolio and an electronic on line portfolio. Assessment is carried out throughout the year and is coursework based.

Future opportunities

The course will lead onto higher education for degree courses such as photography, visual communication and film. Career pathways include studio photography, photojournalism, fashion photography, sports photography and fine art photography.
