Course description

The aim is to extend your ability to select and visually record from a range of sources in order to communicate information to different audiences for a range of specific purposes. This course is about developing your visual recording skills as an exploratory tool in communicating different ideas, learning to observe and select visual information from the world around you. The essential elements of the course give you a comprehensive knowledge of the fundamentals of art and design - techniques and materials, concepts and influences, visual recording and communication. The specific focus is up to you; you can choose to specialise in the area that you are most talented and interested in, such as fine art, photography, 3D work, graphics or fashion.

5 A*-C grade or the equivalent, including C in Maths, English and Art (or Pass in BTEC Art).'
