Construction & Building Crafts - Level 2 Certificate at Bolton St Catherine's Academy

Course description

The Open Awards Level 2 qualifications in Construction and Building Crafts (QCF) are suitable for learners aged 14+. The qualifications prepare learners for employment but also provide career development for those already in work. Learners may focus upon specific pathways or select units across all pathways and also choose units which develop their personal skills, particularly when planning for self-employment.

Course content

The course contains assessments throughout the year working on practical projects supported by workbooks and theory sessions. The theory session will follow national standards and will involve writing about your experience during the course. Practical sessions and projects allow you to demonstrate what you can do starting from Entry Level 3 to Level 2 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Construction and Building Crafts.

Entry requirements

Any applications will be considered with an interview by the subject leader and the student to assess suitability.

Internally assessed units, both practical and theory.

Future opportunities

Foundation Learning, apprenticeships in construction, site management, cad, surveyor, property maintenance.

During the course we work with local businesses to provide work experience at all levels; the opportunity to progress will be offered to individuals when they complete the course.

“I chose construction because I’m interested in working in the building trade. It has taught me how to plaster. I liked everything about it. I have enjoyed everything we’ve learned and have decided that I would like to find a job in plastering.”
