English Literature - A Level at St Gregory the Great Catholic School
AS candidates will be introduced in unit 1 to the central position of narrative in the ways in which literary texts work, involving many different aspects of literary representation. Four texts must be studied from a selection of pre-1990 and post 1990 titles. In unit 2, candidates will be introduced to aspects of genre. Two plays within the comedy genre will be studied. In addition, students will read poems by Coleridge, Browning and Tennyson and they will study twentieth century novels.
A minimum of six A*-C GCSE passes, preferably including a B in this subject.
