Construction Skills - Multitrade at North Kent College

Course description

This one year full-time course is aimed at learners wishing to try a number of core trades within the construction industry before committing to just one. Learners will be meticulously trained in the basic skills of four core trades and assignment work assessed throughout the 34 weeks course.

Course content

During the course, learners will have the opportunity to develop their essential life skills such as communication, numeracy and IT skills and also attend additional sessions to help improve their employability. With a successful completion of the Level 1 Diploma in Basic Construction Skills learners will have the opportunity to apply for a foundation course in any one of these four core trades. The four core trades are: Carpentry, Painting and Decorating, Ceramic Tiling and Brickwork.

Entry requirements

Grade F in mathematics and English. Each learner will be interviewed before being accepted onto the course.

This course may also attract additional costs, for example, kit, uniform or books, that all students will be required to pay.  Please contact the College for further information. 

Future opportunities

After successful completion of this course and following an interview, learners may progress onto a foundation course in their chosen craft.
