BTEC Level 3: Sport at Bosworth Academy

Course description

BTEC Sport Science is taught by a mixture of practical and theory sessions developing knowledge and understanding across a variety of areas of sporty and physical activity. You will study 7 units across the two year course and these units are: Principles of Anatomy & Physiology; The Physiology of Fitness; Assessing Risk in Sport; Fitness Testing; Fitness Training & Programming; Sports Coaching and Sports Nutrition.

 

Entry requirements

Grade 5 in GCSE Physical Education which must include a Grade 5 on the written paper or a merit on BTEC Level 2 Sport.

Assessment

The course is taught entirely through coursework and during each unit you will complete around four pieces of coursework. The method of assessment can range from submitting an essay; practical assessment; oral presentations.

Once an assignment is set students have an opportunity to submit the work to receive interim feedback where the teacher can suggest ways to improve the work. Once the assignment is finally submitted students may not alter the work.
