Business: Level 2 BTEC Diploma at NESCOT

Course description

This study programme is the ideal starting point for students who wish to study business with a view of progressing onto higher level Business qualifications or alternatively may wish to gain some of the Business skills required for the workplace.

Course content

This study programme is made up of three components:

  1. a vocational element (BTEC First Diploma in Business)  
  2. GCSE English and Maths resits to raise your overall grade or the alternative qualification of functional skills maybe offered.
  3. Work experience (The Reed Employment Centre which is based on our campus maybe able to help you with sourcing a suitable placement of interest).

There will also be opportunities to visit businesses and see how they work as well as to hear visiting speakers talk about their careers in business.

Business Level 2 BTEC Diploma covers the following units:
Unit 1 - Business Purposes 
Unit 2 - Business Organisations 
Unit 3 - Financial Forecasting for Business 
Unit 4 - People in Organisations 
Unit 6 - Providing Business Support
Unit 7 - Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication in Business Contexts
Unit 8 - Business Communication through Documentation
Unit 9 - Training and Employment in Business
Unit 12 - Business Online
Unit 14 - Business Ethics
Unit 18 - Working in Business Teams

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade D or above to include Maths and English, or a Level 1 Diploma plus English and Maths.

Future opportunities

From this qualification you can progress on to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business, or other Level 3 qualifications, or enter employment as an office junior or administrative support worker. Employment opportunities in this area are varied and plentiful. However, the majority of students choose to gain further qualifications with us.

A range of compulsory and optional visits will be arranged which will enhance the learning on the course. 

A course text book is available for the course which should be purchased from the college book shop in the first two weeks of term. This is approximately £25.00.

    • By Road:
      Nescot is located just off the A240 (Reigate Road), close to the junction with the A24 (Ewell Bypass).  The College is just five miles inside the M25 (Junction 9).
      There is a large, free car park for use by students and visitors.

      By Rail:
      Nescot is served by two mainline railway stations.
      Ewell East (Southern Railway)
      Ewell East is a two-minute walk from the College from a public footpath leading off Platform 2.  Trains run every half-hour from London Victoria.
      Ewell West (South West Trains)
      Ewell West, which is 15 minutes walk from the College, is on the main line from London Waterloo.
