Course content

You will study in the Core: The Physical World Rivers, Coasts and GlaciersYou will use maps, photographs, videos and the specially written text book to do this. The Human World Population and SettlementWhy are there so many people in the world and where do they live? The Economic WorldIndustry and FarmingHow do the people of the world feed themselves and what do they do. Why do we buy so many goods from Korea and Taiwan? The Natural World Weather, Climate and the Tropical Rain ForestWhy is Queensbury so wet? Why do we go on holiday to Florida and Greece? Should we be worried about the cutting down of the tropical rainforest? For your options you will study: Managing Hazards Tropical storms, volcanoes and earthquakes.Hurricane Katrina hits the USA!Rocking in an earthquake!Smoky days - a story of a volcanic eruption! Managing Tourism Effects, impacts and management of tourism


AssessmentThe core and the options will be assessed by 2 examination papers.

The coursework, which makes up 25% of the final mark will be marked at school.
