Triple BTEC in Fashion & Clothing at Blackpool Sixth Form College
The BTEC in Fashion & Clothing course covers many elements of professional practice from the fashion industry. After tuition in a number of basic techniques students are encouraged to develop their knowledge in a highly personalised way. The wide variety of career choices the fashion industry offers are reflected in the course content.
Year one includes:
- Printmaking for fabrics
- Mixed media construction techniques
- Garment construction
- Computer aided design, Photoshop
- Branding and packaging
Year two includes:
- Fashion Marketing
- Live brief opportunities
- Working with the community
- Garment construction and design
- Further garment construction
- More live brief opportunities
- Fashion Photography
- Self promotion
- Fashion show opportunities
At least a C in any Art or Design subject at GCSE or a pass at BTEC First Diploma in any Art or Design subject is accepted for entry. You do necessarily need experience in garment construction as this will be taught as part of the course but must have a keen interest in the subject. Students not having a formal art qualification will be required to bring a portfolio of their work to interview/enrolment.
Exam board: Edexcel
Students can progress to a wide variety of fashion and design related study and careers including fashion design, retail management, fashion buying, fashion promotion, fashion illustration and fashion journalism.
