Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Hairdressing at Philips Hair Salons (Academy)
Philips Hair Academy offers Level 2 Apprenticeships in Hairdressing and Barbering
You will work towards NVQ Level 2 in hairdressing, level 1 functional skills, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills and Employee Rights and Responsibilities.
To achieve your Level 2 Hairdressing NVQ/Diploma, you will need to pass a total of nine units in:
CHB9– Customer Consultation
CHB11 – Shampoo and condition hair and scalp
- CH1 – Styling Hair
- CH3 – Cut Hair
- CH4 – Change Hair Colour
- CH2 – Set and Dress Hair
- CHB12 – Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
- Optional Units: choose from the following:
- CHB13 Fulfil salon reception duties & CH6 Plait and twist hair Or
- CH5 Perm and neutralise hair
There are no minimum academic requirements, although English and Maths are recommended at Grade C and above. Applicants should have good communication skills, show enthusiasm and commitment, be well presented and polite and have a basic level of English and Maths,
Assessment is on-going throughout the programme by means of online assessments, practical observations of work and question and answers.
The course is funded by The Skills Funding Agency; there are no fees for this course.
Although on gaining a place at the Academy a hairdressing kit is required to start the programme; this is a one-off fee of £200, which covers everything you will need throughout the programme.
On Completion of the Intermediate Hairdressing Apprenticeship; you could progress onto a Barbering Apprenticeship and/or a Advanced Apprenticeship in Hairdressing. These further courses help you to gain the full qualification suite required by employers to be a competent and successful hair stylist.
Further opportunities on successful completion of said courses can lead to many exciting opportunities within the hairdressing industry, including fashion work, working abroad, owning your own business, working on cruise liners, working in the media or theatre, taking part in competitions and shows or even further study towards assessing and teaching.
