Overview and context

The Leadership and Management Internship Programme is a competive opportunity for sixth form students to complete a one year programme that will run in conjunction with their A Levels. It is aimed at talented and ambitious students who have an interest in leadership and management or related programmes of further study, for example business and accountancy.

Students with exceptional ability will receive the chance to explore the opportunities open to them in the area of leadership and management; through completion of research throughout their studies that will challenge and stretch their learning and skills, be invited to special lectures and activities, have the opportunity to have a mentor from a related discipline to guide and support their learning and also complete a placement during the school holidays.

The placement would be tailored to the needs and areas of specialism of the student. This programme will enable students to undertake a unique and valuable opportunity that will enhance their learning.



All students on the programme will complete the following elements:

AQA Baccalaureate including AS Critical Thinking, the Extended Project and community work.

A work experience placement with links an area relevant to the student’s future aspirations and interests.

Mentoring sessions with a partner from industry.

Research opportunities to develop the students understanding of their area of interest.

Specialist events, activities and experiences.

Individually tailored elements to suit individual student requirements and interests.


Entry requirements

In order to enrol on sixth form courses, applicants will need to have achieved:

  • 5 A* to C Grades in separate subjects and in addition
  • ‘B’ Grade(s) or higher in subject(s) relevant to A Level choices


What will you need to do to qualify?

Students who which to be considered for the Leadership and Management Internship will be required to complete an application form, along with a letter of application. They will then be given an interview which will form part of the selection process for the internship.

Students will be expected to be studying AS Level subjects appropriate to those required to lead to an application into the area of leadership and management they are interested in. Applicants will need to demonstrate an interest in their chosen area, a willingness to accept challenges, the ability to represent the school, high levels of academic aspiration and a commitment to the programme.
