Course description

The aim of this course is to improve your practical skills and understanding of plants, shrubs, planting, pruning and coppicing skills so that you can participate in local community horticulture projects. It will also help improve your English and maths skills to help you get a job.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. We will assess your skills, identify your needs and place you on the most appropriate level of qualification for you to succeed.

Assessment

This course is continual assessment and you will build a portfolio with the help of your tutor. Each section has a variety of units

Future opportunities

When you have completed this course you can either progress to the level 2 qualification or you can progress onto a Foundation Learning course with more vocational options.

    • The Centre of Sporting Excellence (CoSE) is based on the outskirts of Kidderminster at Brinton’s Field. This is our specialist facility for sports courses in Kidderminster and the Black Country.

      The facilities include six football pitches, two rugby pitches, a ‘trophy’ pitch, a golf driving range and a strength and conditioning gym spread over 40 acres of land.

      We also have use of partner community sports facilities including local golf, boxing and rugby clubs and the playing fields are also used by Kidderminster Harriers Football Academy.

      The Centre of Sporting Excellence offers a range of Sports Academies which are designed to bridge the gap between community sports and education.

      The unique partnerships mean that students study for sport related academic courses as well as developing their sporting skills with professional, qualified and experienced coaches across all academies with the opportunity to take part in local, regional and national competitions.
