English at Copthall School

Course description

Students analyse and appreciate literature from a range of ages and cultures. Students are taught in balanced mixed ability groups and study a range of texts including a modern novel, a Shakespeare play, a modern play, pre-twentieth century prose and a variety of poetry. Students also explore a wide range of media and non-fiction texts. Attendance is extremely important as coursework has now been replaced by controlled assessments, which take place in the classroom in examination conditions.
