Childcare (Early Years Educator) BTEC Advanced Diploma Level 3 at Fareham College

Course description

This advanced course will build and develop your knowledge of all-round care and development of children.

The course contains practical elements of working with young children from birth to eight years and you will gain an insight into the theories of learning and development. You will be expected to undertake a minimum of 800 hours over two years in at least three different placements settings covering various ages. Throughout your placements, you will be expected to complete a practice skills log and longitudinal studies.

You will be involved in exciting and practical experiences as well as completing projects such as making leaflets, posters and writing assignments on important childcare issues.

Course content

Topics covered include: children’s development, safeguarding children and research methodology.

Entry requirements

  • 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths.
  • Experience in a childcare setting is desirable.


The course is delivered through assignment tasks, observations or practice as well as exams.

Financial information

A uniform (fleece and polo shirt) will need to be purchased. Full details will be provided in your interview.

Future opportunities

For our Level 2 course (or above) you will be required to take a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check prior to commencing your work placement. There is no charge for this service.
