Hospitality Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma at West Somerset College
The course will cover kitchen, restaurant and reception skills in both a theoretical and practical way, preparing students for a wide range of careers and undergraduate level courses. As part of the theoretical element you will study: Menu Composition, Restaurant Management, Finance and Business, Food Service Organisation, Business Enterprise and e-business. The practical element includes units of work such as European Food, Advanced Desserts and Petit Fours, Alcoholic Beverages, Food and Drinks Service and Planning and Managing an Event.
100% Coursework which includes written assignments and practical observations.
Hospitality professions include: Hotel Manager, Receptionist, Food and Beverage Manager, Cruise Coordinator, Events Manager, or Wedding Planner. Catering professions include: Head Chef, Sous Chef, Chef de Partie, Restaurant Manager, Food and Beverage Manager, Head Waiter or Sommelier.
5 GCSEs Grade A*-C, including English and Mathematics.
