Dance A Level at Ormiston Forge Academy

Course description

AS Dance consists of 2 units where pupils study set dancers, including their choreographers and influence on the dance industry. Their knowledge and understanding is tested in a written examination. Pupils will also perform and choreograph dances to a visiting examiner.

In the second year students study further set dances, which again are questioned in a written exam and devise and choreograph both solo and group dances for performance to the visiting examiner.

Candidates who achieve this qualification may go on to study Dance or Performing Arts at University. It may also prove useful to pupils considering a career in the Live Theatre Industry, as a teacher or in a Performance Therapy.

Entry requirements

Pupils should have studied either GCSE or BTEC Dance or Performing Arts achieving either a Pass or C grade. Pupils may need to audition to be accepted onto the course depending on prior experience and qualifications.
