Aspire to Traineeships at Lancaster and Morecambe College
Traineeship programmes are designed to provide learners with the skills and work experience employers require. You will undertake a work experience in an area of your choice along with work preparation skills such as CV writing, interview preparation and team working skills to support your progression. Learners without a GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths will continue to study these subjects. Completing a Traineeship can lead onto a full Apprenticeship, further study or employment .
You will study the following
• Work Preparation Skills • Work Experience • Maths and English – if without GCSE at grade C or above • An employability qualification if over 19
All LMC students will receive tutorial support.
All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade A*-C in these subjects. If you have a grade D at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D will work towards GCSE through the study of Maths & English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment.
You must be ready for the workplace and willing to study maths and English if you don't already have A*-C at GCSE. Learners over 19 will undertake an employability qualification.
This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including portfolio presentation, exam/omline tests and practical work.
What expenses are related to this course?
None. Although you may be asked to contribute a small amount of money towards out of college educational visits and activities.
The course can lead onto an apprenticeship, further study or employment.
Most of the coursework will be completed in class.
