BTEC Performing Arts Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Hope Academy

Course description


The B-Tec Performing Arts course is aimed specifically at those with a practical interest in performance. If you have already had performing experience or have enjoyed the practical aspects of GCSE Drama, then this course would be ideal for you.

The B-Tec Subsidiary Diploma is the equivalent of one A-Level. There will be internal and external assessments of written and practical assignments, plus performances. All units are assessed individually and the final grade is an aggregate of the unit grades.

Course content



  • The focus of the course will be practical, but excellent organisational skills will be required in order to complete the necessary written assignments.
  • The course consists of a number of compulsory units, as well as a range of optional units, giving choice and flexibility in your learning. Areas that may be covered could include performance, devising theatre, directing and voice.
  • There will be regular opportunities to see live performances and events at a number of professional venues, both locally and nationally.

Entry requirements

Grade C in Drama is desirable but not essential.

Future opportunities


This course can lead to further study of Performing Arts at Drama School or University. Career choices included a variety of jobs within the performing arts industry, teaching or careers that require good communication skills.
