Course description

The course objectives are to:
• Develop an interest in business and enterprise
for a detailed study of a range of practices,
issues and models relating to industry and the
international business environment.
• Developing skills and understanding that will
transfer to careers within industry.
• Use research and critical analysis skills to
approach your studies.
Unit 1: Enterprise in the Business World
A study of enterprise and entrepreneurship.
Developing skills that will help plan an idea for a
new business.
Unit 2: Finance for Business
Focusing on the costs/revenue involved in
business and how they make profit.
(External assessment only).
Unit 3: Promoting a Brand
How businesses achieve branding and how this is
used to improve success and profitability.
Unit 4: Customer Services
How businesses meet customer needs and use
good service as a competitive tool.
Unit 8: Recruitment and Selection
Identifying ways a business recruits and selects its
Unit 9: Principles of Marketing
Focusing on how businesses meet and satisfy
customer needs through promotion, research and
advertising. (External assessment only)
Unit 14: Business Online
Focuses on how businesses use computers and
technology to meet customer needs and become
more successful.

Entry requirements

GCSE passes in Core English, Maths & Science and/or interview.
