Spanish at The Castle School

Course description

Suitable for those who enjoy languages, foreign culture and new challenges. Learning a language increases employability and enhances knowledge of foreign culture.

Both AS and A2 cover a wide range of interesting and contemporary issues in an engaging and exciting course, highly respected by universities and employers alike.

The AS course consists of four engaging topic areas - technology and media, popular culture, health and fitness and family and relationships. Students will rapidly develop skills gained at GCSE in all four linguistic areas - listening, speaking, reading and writing, whilst being given the opportunity to discuss, debate and present ideas in Spanish about the most up-to-date matters. The A2 course continues to look at modern global issues - the environment, multicultural society and social issues. Alongside these, two cultural topics will be studied.

Please note that this course is taught at Marlwood School Sixth Form.

In order to study this course you would travel to Marlwood for lessons, probably for two long sessions each week, while remaining a student of Castle School. Those students interested in this course will be invited to attend a taster session at Marlwood before finalising their choices.
