Art: Animation and Video at Backwell School

Course description

This course develops the theory and practice to enable you to explore and communicate your personal ideas expressively through the medium of moving image.

You will be encouraged to explore a wide range of approaches to working with animation, audio and video techniques including: Traditional and digital animation (Flash), Stop frame animation techniques that will include drawn, pixilation (using people) and Cut-out, found object, clay and live action.

Drawing skills are an important part of the course, alongside photography and 3D modeling.

Audio and Video editing and effects will be explored through Final Cut Express software, creating layers and compositions on a timeline.

Entry requirements

Those who have taken Art or Photography at GCSE are expected to haveachieved a C grade.

Those who have not taken an Art or Photography GCSE must be able to show a portfolio of personal work that proves they have the skills and interest to succeed on this course, before starting in September.

Grade C in English is recommended.
